Four persons caught selling baby boy for Rs 3 lakhs

Pune, January 6 – Officials from Pune city police have arrested three persons including three women for allegedly trying to sale a male infant in Pune on Friday.

Cops are investigating if the accused persons are part of any organised child trafficking racket.

Acting on a tip-off received by policeman Shankar Kumbhar of Faraskhana police station, a trap was laid near Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) Kasba Peth Ward office on Wednesday and the accused persons were arrested along with the one month old baby boy.

Police officials said that the accused persons wanted to sale the child for Rs three lakhs.

The arrested persons have been identified as Dipti Sanjay Kharat (30) of Khadakwasla, Latika Somnath Patil (23) of Thane, Asha Nana Ahire (27) of Ulhasnagar, and Keshav Shankar Dhende (47) of Hadapsar.

DCP (zone 1) Sudhir Hiremath guided the investigation team which included senior police inspector Rekha Salunkhe, and police personnel Iqbal Shaikh, Bapu Khutwad, Sanjay Gaikwad,
Babasaheb Gore, Vinayak Shinde, Vikas Borhade, Sandip Patil, Sagar Kekan, and Monali Nanaware.
