Pune, 30th June 2026: A rescue operation is underway after a gaur (Indian bison) became trapped in a water pipeline cavity at Janata Vasahat Road in Ward No. 28 under the Sinhagad Road Ward Office limits of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

Officials said the animal was found stuck in the pipeline space, prompting an immediate response from multiple agencies. Personnel from the PMC, the Forest Department, the RESQ Charitable Trust rescue team, and the police rushed to the spot to carry out the rescue operation.

Senior police officials are also present at the site. PMC Assistant Municipal Commissioner Waghmode and Health Inspector Priyanka Kank are supervising the operation and monitoring the coordinated rescue efforts.

Authorities said every effort is being made to safely rescue the gaur without causing it any injury. The rescue operation is being conducted with close coordination among all the concerned agencies to ensure the animal’s safe extraction.
