Global Outage Hits WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram; Meta Apologizes
Pune, 12th December 2024: Late Wednesday night, popular social media platforms WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram faced a sudden and widespread outage, leaving millions of users unable to access the services. The disruption began around 11 PM and was attributed to issues with Meta’s servers.
The reason behind the outage remains unclear, and Meta, the parent company of these platforms, issued a statement on Twitter to address the situation. “We are aware that a technical problem is affecting the ability of some users to access our apps. We are working to get things back to normal as soon as possible and apologize for any inconvenience,” the company stated.
Users from across the globe reported various issues, including the inability to send messages on WhatsApp, refresh feeds on Instagram, or access Facebook’s platform. Social media users quickly took to other platforms like Twitter to share their experiences and frustrations, with hashtags related to the outage trending worldwide.
