Good News for the farmers: Better practices better yields -Agri-based start-up Gramophone showcases the benefits on its ‘Field Day’

Gramophone, an agriculture-based startup in Indore was founded by IIT and IIM graduates, Tauseef Khan, Nishant Mahatre, Harshit Gupta and Ashish Rajan Singh. Gramophone started its operations in 2016 and it currently helps almost 1.5 lakh farmers in the central and western region of Madhya Pradesh. The startup aims to provide the farmers best package and practices which can give them higher yields. The experts at Gramophone study the farming behavior suggest methods and practices that help farmers. With growing technological advancements, the Internet has become an abode to every solution that we want.

Gramophone believes that all farmers can be digitally equipped with mobile-based solutions that can give them access to best quality seeds, crop protection, nutrition products and methodologies to improve crop yields. With the same aim, the startup introduced its Gramophone Android App and missed call helpline number. Today, they have received more than 2 lakh calls from farmers for assistance related to farming and over 80,000 applications installs where people share their requirements.

On December 08, 2018, Gramophone organised it’s ‘Field Day’ where current farming practices were compared to the well-researched practices given by the expert agronomists at Gramophone. The objective was to showcase the potential that newer technologies have for farmers. The field experts guided the farmers and kept a track of the crop across the cropping cycle and the results are quite encouraging. Mayank Agrawal, a farmer from Bankpura village (Dhamnod) mentions, “I have been taking help from the experts at Gramophone this season and as compared to the other fields, my crop is healthier and I expect an improvement of 30-40% in the yield”.
