Mumbai, June 6, 2017 : Government is planning to formulate a new National Policy for official statistics and making all efforts towards e-governance, standardization of procedures and holistic review of statistical products, said Union Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation, Shri D.V. Sadananda Gowda while interacting with journalists from 9 centers across the country through Video Conference.

Various initiatives for leveraging technology in data collection are also being taken he added. The Ministry has developed a new integrated #MPLADS Portal for use of all the stakeholders; which would ensure transparency.  He also said that apart from Nationalized banks #MPLADS funds accounts can also be opened in Regional Rural Banks.

The Minister informed that Base year of Consumers’ Price Index has been revised from 2010 to 2012. The base year for Index of Industrial Production (IIP) has also been revised to 2011 – 12 to reflect the structural changes in the industrial sector more accurately.

Shri Gowda said that the Ministry has recently launched Periodic Labour Force Survey from April, 2017 this will help generate annual estimates of labour force.

We are developing a framework for bringing out National Factsheet of Indian Economy with 100 indicators he added.
