Government of Maharashtra hosts roadshow to attract participation from Pune for Magnetic Maharashtra: Convergence 2018

Pune, 1st February 2018: In a bid to promote the state’s first-ever Global Investment Summit – “Magnetic Maharashtra: Convergence 2018”, the Government of Maharashtra hosted a roadshow in Pune today. In the presence of Hon’ble Industries Minister of Maharashtra Shri. Subhash Desai, the event witnessed exchange of ideas amongst the city’s industry leaders on the progressive measures to facilitate investments in the state.

Magnetic Maharashtra: Convergence 2018 will not only facilitate investments into the state by promoting indigenous manufacturing but also will provide impetus to the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s flagship program ‘Make in India’. The state’s first Global Investment Summit will be held from February 18 to February 20 at the MMRDA grounds in Mumbai. The maiden three-day global investment summit has been conceptualized on four main pillars of ‘Employment’, ‘Sustainability’, ‘Infrastructure’ and ‘Future Industries’. The event will also host an exhibition showcasing various regions of the state and the industrial prowess that they have built.

Pune has been playing a crucial role in developing Maharashtra’s economy with concentration 37.8% MSMEs which is by far the highest in the state and creating total employment of almost 34.4% amongst the regions of Maharashtra. A prominent location for the manufacturing sector, a sector that contributes around 21.43% of state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) is also the driving force of the Make in India initiative. With a focus on skill-building and delivering innovative product developments, one of the fastest growing cities in Asia Pacific in the manufacturing and automobile industries, Pune will continue to bring a large portion of investment from domestic and foreign engineering companies.

“Pune has been a key contributor to Maharashtra’s overall development. This city has not only seen a positive spiral in the industrial growth but is also continuously creating new job opportunities which is an important aspect for the development of the state,” said Hon’ble Industries Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Subhash Desai. “Our global investment summit will provide an opportunity to showcase the city’s contribution to the state’s economy and position it as an industrial powerhouse,” he further added.

Giving an impetus to promote investments and encourage young entrepreneurs, he further added, “Maharashtra as a state recognizes the potential in next generation innovators and hence is actively identifying, recognising and facilitating new ventures. In line with this vision, I am glad to announce that we have received maximum entries from Pune for our 2018 Start-up Awards – Start Ups under 30.” 

To promote state level starts-up, Magnetic Maharashtra: Convergence has introduced 2018 Start-Up Awards – Start Ups under 30 is a unique platform to recognize the young entrepreneurs and also help in accelerating the state’s economic activity.
