Government provides financial assistance to revival, retrieval and digitisation of ancient AYUSH manuscripts and books

The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM) and Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS) are engaged in the studies related to revival & retrieval and digitization of Ancient Ayurvedic Manuscripts & Rare Books and they are being published from time to time.

 

Department of AYUSH had sanctioned 32 projects under the Acquisition, Cataloguing, Digitization and Publication of Text Books & Manuscripts (ACDP) Scheme during the 11th Plan period. The Ministry of AYUSH has provided balance financial assistance during the last three years under the Acquisition, Cataloguing, Digitization and Publication of Text Books & Manuscripts (ACDP) Scheme as given below:-

The texts of Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani retrieved from the manuscripts are being translated and published from time to time by the respective Research Council’s to make them available in public domain.

The National Institute of Indian Medical Heritage of Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) is a nodal institute is maintaining the ancient manuscripts and rare books of Ayurveda. Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM) has initiated a project on compilation of Union Catalogue of Unani Manuscripts available in the major libraries in India. Compilation of catalogue available at Raza Library, Rampur; Mulana Azad Library, AMU, Aligarh; Khudabaksh Library, Patna and Ibn-e-Sina Academy, Aligarh have been undertaken and 2952 catalogues have been prepared.
