Grocery shopping available at doorsteps in Pimpri Chinchwad

Pimpri Chinchwad, May 14, 2020: Grocery shopping has been a challenge faced by the people in Pimpri Chinchwad, due to hike in prices and less availability of products. The hike in the number of COVID19 cases is the utmost concern of the residents and buying daily food items has been a problematic task now.

To resolve this, Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Societies Federation (PCHSF) came up with a brilliant idea in cooperation with MCDC (Maharashtra Cooperative Development Corporation). PCHSF chairperson Tejaswini Dhomse Sawai managed to connect vendors with housing society directly and made essential food items like vegetables, fruits, dairy products, baked goods, available at their doorsteps.

Speaking to the Punekarnews.in Tejaswini said, “We managed to connect vendors with the housing societies by a simple Google form. All the housing societies can register themselves and they will be connected to a local vendor. By far Amul, D-Mart and Reliance Mart have also contacted us.”

WhatsApp forwards and Google forms made the federation reach maximum people. They are taking preventive measures like using sanitizers, mask and glove and also practising social distancing. “Farmers have also approached us and they are providing vegetables, fruits and essential commodities inside the societies”, Tejaswini concluded.
