Gujarat CM writes motivational letter to all Sarpanches of the state

Gandhinagar, Monday: With taking such a novel initiative to ensure all-round development of the state, Gujarat Chief Minister Mrs. Anandiben Patel today wrote a letter to all Sarpanches of the state and directed them to decide development plan of their respective villages on their own with the consent of the villagers.

In the letter Mrs. Patel informed Sarpanches that the state government has allocated development fund of Rs. 1,460.16 crore to 18,000 Gram Panchayats by considering recommendations of 14th Finance Commission. Also, Rs. 185 crore has also been allocated for the ‘Smart Village’ concept which was first time introduced in the budget to make 300 villages as ‘Smart Village’, she mentioned in the letter.

Mrs. Patel also talked about provision of Rs. 10,000 crore made in the budget 2016-17 to connect all the villages and sub-urban areas through solid road network in next three years. She also expressed her commitment to strengthen rural transportation.

Gujarat CM pointed out some other important decisions of the government like 35 kg grain for Aantyodaya family, which will be benefitted to about 3 crore families of the state. A sum of Rs. 456 crore has been allocated for the schemes.

She informed that a programme named ‘Gram Uday thi Bharat Uday’ will be celebrated in all villages of the state from 14th April (Birth Anniversary of Babasaheb Ambedkar) to 24th April (Panchayati Raj Day). The programme will be held in three phases. She appealed all village representatives to provide their contribution in the development journey of the state by joining hands with the government.
