Camp, 8th May 2026: What initially appeared to be a straightforward case of trespassing and assault resulting in the tragic death of an elderly man has now unfurled into a complex property and institutional dispute in Pune’s Bhavani Peth.

The recent incident, which took place between individuals linked to the Haji Ghulam Muhammad Azam Trust (HGMAT) and the neighboring Golden Jubilee Education Trust (GJET), culminated in the passing of Shahid Inamdar, who suffered a fatal heart attack shortly after the confrontation and after broadcasting a Facebook Live video the same day.

While the Khadak Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) detailing an assault and robbery, competing claims from the trusts have raised several critical questions regarding the timeline, location, and sequence of events that remain unanswered.

The FIR Narrative: Trespassing and Assault
According to FIR No. 268/2026 registered at the Khadak Police Station, the complainant, 31-year-old Mustafa Sayyad Baqarhuseni Inamdar, alleged that 11 individuals—including Parvez, Iftikar, Tanveer, and Abeda Inamdar, along with five unidentified bouncers—illegally entered the Golden Jubilee Education premises at Kashewadi on the morning of May 3, 2026.

The FIR claims the accused forcibly removed and loaded materials worth ₹10 to ₹12 lakh, including laptops, computers, projectors, and partitions belonging to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Institute. When Mustafa and his family arrived at the scene, the situation escalated. The complaint alleges that the accused pushed Mustafa’s mother and violently shoved his father, Shahid Inamdar, to the ground while issuing death threats. The sheer shock of the family dispute turning violent allegedly caused Inamdar to collapse. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead due to a massive heart attack.

The Counter-Claim: A Dispute Over Access
However, a closer look reveals that the incident is deeply rooted in a property dispute. Trustees linked to HGMAT state that records show the land and building at CTS No. 646 belong to their trust.

According to their version of events, HGMAT trustees and members had visited the site that Sunday morning after learning that their security guards were being removed from their own building. Upon arrival, they claim they were denied entry by persons linked to GJET, whose property is located right next door. Furthermore, it has come to light that some trustees and members of HGMAT were allegedly not allowed entry into their own trust building.

Crucial Discrepancies and Unanswered Questions
The conflicting narratives between the FIR and the trust members have highlighted three major discrepancies that investigators must now unravel:

1. The Location Dispute (CTS 646 vs. CTS 647):
The FIR records the place of occurrence as Golden Jubilee Education, situated at CTS No. 647, Bhavani Peth. However, public references and parts of the complaint narrative point to premises and open areas belonging to HGMAT. This difference is critical: Was the dispute over access to CTS No. 646, which the HGMAT side claims belongs to them, or did the physical altercation happen over entry into GJET at CTS No. 647?

2. The Timeline Discrepancy:
The police FIR explicitly states the incident occurred at around 8:00 AM on May 3. However, Shahid Inamdar himself conducted a Facebook Live video at approximately 11:30 AM that same morning, during which he described the incident as having taken place during the night. Investigators will need to establish which timeline is accurate.

3. The Dispute Over Materials:
The FIR alleges that institutional materials kept in the compound area were taken away. This raises questions about whose material was allegedly moved, from exactly which premises, and where it was taken. The police complaint notes that help was sought by dialing 112, and after police arrived at the spot, some individuals dispersed.

The Medical Timeline and Grief
The most sensitive aspect of the case remains the medical timeline. Newspaper reports and public discussions have widely linked the subsequent death of Shahid Inamdar to the extreme stress of the confrontation. However, in emotionally charged family and institutional disputes, responsible investigation requires every claim to be tested against property records, established timelines, and medical evidence.

Despite the bitter dispute, the loss of life has cast a heavy shadow over both institutions. When contacted, a trust member associated with HGMAT expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Inamdar.

Choosing not to engage in a media trial, the member stated, “We are saddened by the loss of Shahid Inamdar. GJET, though on the other side of the dispute, was a senior member in the HGMAT ecosystem. If his family feels aggrieved, we understand their grief. However, the matter is now with the police and the courts. We will clear the Trust’s name through the proper legal process.”

For now, the Bhavani Peth case remains marked by unanswered questions.
