Hathras Stampede: Six Detained, IG Announces Reward for Main Accused
Aligarh, 4th July 2024: Six individuals have been detained about the Hathras stampede, which tragically claimed 121 lives, according to Inspector General (IG) Shalabh Mathur of the Aligarh Range. In a media briefing, he disclosed plans for a non-bailable warrant against chief sevadar Devprakash Madhukar and announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh.
“At the time of the stampede, the six sevadars who are now in custody had fled the scene. A reward of Rs 1 lakh is being offered for the arrest of the main accused, Prakash Madhukar. A non-bailable warrant will soon be issued against him. We will also investigate whether this incident was the result of a conspiracy,” Mathur stated.
The IG also mentioned the ongoing investigation into ‘Bhole Baba’, although not named in the FIR and the gathering of information on Narayan Sakaar Hari’s background. “We are probing into ‘Bhole Baba’s’ record. The event was not authorized under his name,” Mathur added.
