HDFC Bank to Undergo Scheduled Maintenance; Limited Service Disruptions Expected on August 22–23
New Delhi, 21st August 2025: Customers of HDFC Bank are being advised to plan ahead as the bank has announced temporary downtime across select digital and customer support platforms later this week. The scheduled maintenance, taking place between August 22 and 23, is part of ongoing efforts to upgrade banking systems and improve service reliability.
Services Affected
During the maintenance window, the following facilities will be unavailable:
Phone Banking IVR
Email Assistance
Social Media Help Desks
WhatsApp Chat Banking
SMS Banking
However, the emergency toll-free helpline for reporting lost or fraudulent accounts and cards will remain fully operational.
Customer Support Platforms – From 11:00 PM IST on August 22 until 6:00 AM IST on August 23 (7 hours), customer service channels listed above will not be accessible.
UPI Services – On August 22, between 12:00 AM and 1:30 AM IST (90 minutes), UPI transactions linked to HDFC accounts and RuPay credit cards will face interruptions. This includes payments through the HDFC MobileBanking app, merchant payments, and third-party apps connected with HDFC.
Services Unaffected
Despite the planned outage, customers can continue using:
NetBanking (200+ online transactions)
HDFC MobileBanking app
PayZapp
MyCards
Live agent support over phone banking
NetBanking Registration Options:
Online: Using customer ID, registered mobile OTP, and debit card details to set a new IPIN.
ATM: Customers may register through any HDFC ATM and receive an IPIN by courier.
HDFC Bank has urged customers to complete essential transactions in advance to avoid disruptions. While the downtime may cause short-term inconvenience, the bank emphasized that the upgrades are designed to enhance security, system stability, and the overall digital banking experience.
