Health Checkup and Blood Test Camp by Symbiosis Community Outreach Programme and Extension (SCOPE) on 26th April 2018 at Weghre Village, Mulshi, Pune

In response to a special request by Mr. Bhau Margale, Sarpanch of Weghre village, Mulshi, Pune Symbiosis International (Deemed University) conducted health checkup and blood test camp through Symbiosis Community Outreach Programme and Extension (SCOPE) department in collaboration with Primary Health Center (PHC), Mutha. The programme was arranged to celebrate successful completion of 10 years of Mr. Bhau Margale as a Sarpanch.
Under guidance of Col. (Dr.) Jayalakshmi N. Pillai (Retd.), Head-SCOPE, the staff planned health camp in this interior area of Mulshi Taluka. Dr. Ramdas Tate, Medical Officer, Primary Health Centre, Mutha was present with his whole team along with Gram panchayat members of Weghre village to provide all the required support.

Dr. Sachin Raje – Programme Officer, Dr. Avinash Sarate – In charge of Mobile Medical Unit at SCOPE planned and implemented the event. ASHA workers were motivated to test blood sugar levels and blood pressure of the individuals of the villages as per the initiatives by Government of Maharashtra to manage non-communicable diseases.

Symbiosis Medical Officers examined all the patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric age groups which included fair participation of genders. Every individual’s height, weight and blood pressure were measured. Medical Officers checked all the individuals and advised to check blood sugar levels and hemoglobin levels in suspected cases. Mutha PHC staff with their team of lab technician, ANM sisters, MPWs and ASHA workers performed all the necessary tests and mobilized the people and resources. On special request of Sarpanch, Blood Groups of individuals were also tested. PHC staff distributed the medicines to the patients as per the prescription.

With this health checkup camp, Dr. Manisha Gore, Research Officer, SCOPE also conducted short awareness session about the diabetes and blood pressure. Surprisingly many people out of 60 people were not aware about these two non-communicable diseases.

Total 138 patients from the main village and its hamlets namely Mandav khadak were benefited by this health checkup camp and about 78 patients were tested for the blood sugar level, hemoglobin and blood group.

A unique idea of Health Card distribution to all the patients were implemented where patient’s details were incorporated including their relative’s phone number and other details including blood test findings were present in this card.
