Pune, 13th May 2025: Intense rainfall lashed Pune on Tuesday morning, leading to the collapse of trees at five locations across the city, including Shaniwar Peth, Undri, Lohegaon, Yerawada, and Bibvewadi. The downpour began around 11:30 am and lasted nearly an hour, resulting in waterlogging in several areas and slowing traffic on major roads such as Jangli Maharaj Road (JM Road), Karve Road, Satara Road, Shankarsheth Road, Hadapsar Road, and Pune-Ahilyanagar Highway. Despite the disruption, traffic police confirmed that there was no major breakdown of city traffic flow.

Upon receiving alerts about fallen trees, Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) Fire Brigade teams responded promptly, clearing branches and reopening blocked roads to restore vehicular movement. Fire officials reported that, fortunately, no injuries were recorded in any of the incidents. “Our teams acted swiftly to remove tree debris and ensure that roads were safe and open for the public,” said an official from the Fire Brigade’s main control room.

The Pune Municipal Corporation and Fire Brigade have urged residents to remain cautious during heavy rain spells, as the city continues to experience unpredictable weather patterns and increased risk of tree falls during the pre-monsoon season.
