Honoring the Family of Martyr Subedar Rakesh Kumar on Intelligence Corps Foundation Day
Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh), 17th December 2023: In a heartfelt tribute to the valor and sacrifice of Subedar Rakesh Kumar, his family, particularly his brave wife Sumana Devi, was honored on the occasion of the Intelligence Corps Foundation Day. Subedar Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Haripur village in Kangra district, made the ultimate sacrifice in the Chushul sector near the India-China border.
Despite facing challenges that prevented her from attending the ceremony in Pune, Veer Nari Sumana Devi was extended a special invitation by Lieutenant General Pradeep Kumar Chahal, Colonel Commandant of the Intelligence Corps. She was presented with the honor and recognition that her husband so rightfully deserved.
Brave woman Sumana Devi shared the poignant story of her husband’s sacrifice, recounting that Subedar Rakesh Kumar laid down his life during a military operation on October 5, 2020. Despite the profound loss, Sumana expressed both her deep sense of missing her husband and the pride she feels for his unwavering commitment to duty.
The ceremony not only served as a tribute to the fallen hero but also highlighted the resilience and strength exhibited by the families of those who make the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation. The Intelligence Corps Foundation Day became a poignant moment to acknowledge and express gratitude to Sumana Devi and her family for their sacrifices in the line of duty.
