HSBC Technology India partners with Lila Poonawalla Foundation (LPF) to support 200 financially challenged students in Pune and Hyderabad

Pune, 4 Aug 2020: HSBC Technology India (HTI) and Lila Poonawalla Foundation (LPF) have signed an MoU to support aspiring young girls from financially challenged backgrounds to pursue higher education and build professional skills.
Through this initiative, scholarships and professional skill building training will be given to 200 girls (100 pursuing Nursing and Engineering courses in Pune (in the state of Maharashtra) and 100 girls pursuing Engineering courses in Hyderabad (in the state of Telangana).
This is the first time the Pune – based Lila Poonawalla Foundation has stepped out of Maharashtra, with the support of HSBC Technology India (HTI), to achieve wider national outreach. On this occasion, Mrs. Lila Poonawalla, recipient of Padma Shri award, Chairperson – Lila Poonawalla Foundation (LPF) said, “Girls’ education and empowerment are the core pillars of Lila Poonawalla Foundation. To have a partner like HSBC Technology India, who supports LPF’s vision of educating academically bright but financially challenged girls’ education and empowering them through scholarships and skill building programmes, is a proud moment. Additionally, HTI’s employee volunteering initiatives would add immense value to build confidence and industry ready skills in these girls.”

It’s immensely satisfying to know that through this 4-year partnership we will have trained and placed into highly skilled employment, several aspiring young women from financially disadvantaged households; that we will have empowered them with financial independence and the skills to thrive in the future.”
The MoU was signed by Mrs. Lila Poonawalla, Chairperson, LPF, and Mr. Girish Bidani, Head of Centre Operations, HTI, in the presence of Damini Khaire, Corporate Sustainability Lead, HTI, and Priti Khare, CEO, LPF.
