6th January 2024: Hyundai Motors is set to unveil a new iteration of the Hyundai i20 facelift in India, introducing a promising variant known as the Hyundai i20 Sportz (O). Positioned within the premium hatchback segment, the current i20 model boasts an array of impressive features, with no planned alterations to its existing design or engine options. The new variant, classified as a mid-range offering, aims to strike a balance between features and affordability.

This upcoming variant of the Hyundai i20, based on its Indian counterpart, is set to integrate various enhancements. Among its standout features will be an electronic sunroof, a wireless mobile charging pad, and a driver’s armrest. Derived from the Indian variant, it will include LED tail lamps, electrically adjustable ORVM, electrically foldable and cooled club box with IBM, automatic climate control, cruise control, and height-adjustable driver seat.

At the apex of its lineup, the i20 presents a digital instrument cluster paired with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Safety aspects include rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, and six front airbags, with higher-end models offering hill hold assist, vehicle stability management, three-point seat reminders for all passengers, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.

Powering this new variant of the Hyundai i20 facelift is a 1.2-liter petrol engine, generating 83 bhp and 115 Nm of torque. This engine is coupled with a choice between a five-speed manual transmission and CVT transmission. For those seeking a turbo petrol engine, the Hyundai i20 N Line presents a suitable alternative and comes with R16-style steel wheels.

The much-anticipated Hyundai i20 Sportz (O) variant is slated for an imminent launch in the Indian market, with an expected price tag around Rs 6.99 lakh. Positioned to compete, the i20 variant vies against rivals such as the Tata Altroz, Toyota Glanza, and Maruti Baleno within the Indian automotive landscape.
