“I Am Human, Not Divine”: PM Modi Reflects on Mistakes in Podcast Debut
New Delhi, 10th January 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his podcast debut on Nikhil Kamath’s ‘People by WTF’ series, acknowledged that mistakes are inevitable and that he, too, is not immune to making them.
“Mistakes happen, and I can make them as well. After all, I am human, not divine,” PM Modi candidly shared with Kamath, the co-founder of Zerodha.
At the beginning of the conversation, Kamath humorously expressed concerns about his Hindi proficiency, referring to it as “bad Hindi.”
“Sir, please excuse me if my Hindi isn’t fluent. I am South Indian, and I mostly grew up in Bangalore. My mother’s side is from Mysuru, where Kannada is predominantly spoken, and my father is from near Mangalore. I studied Hindi in school, but I’m not very fluent,” Kamath said to the Prime Minister.
PM Modi responded with reassurance, saying, “Hum dono ki aise hi chalegi” (We’ll manage just fine together). He added, “I’m here talking with you, and even I feel a bit nervous. This is my first podcast, and I’m unsure how it will resonate with your audience.”
During the two-hour podcast, the Prime Minister shared anecdotes from various aspects of his life, including his childhood, education, entry into politics, overcoming setbacks, managing stress, and crafting policies.
Recalling his younger days, PM Modi shared, “I used to wash clothes for my entire family. That responsibility allowed me the privilege of going to the pond.”
The podcast trailer, shared by PM Modi on X (formerly Twitter), invited his audience to tune in. “I hope you enjoy this as much as we enjoyed creating it for you!” the Prime Minister wrote.
