Jaipur, 3rd March 2025: Abhey Singh, popularly known as IIT Baba, is facing a case in Jaipur after police allegedly found him in possession of ‘ganja’ or marijuana. The incident occurred at the Riddhi Siddhi Park Classic Hotel, where police seized a packet containing 1.50 grams of the substance under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS Act). Singh, who claims to be an aerospace engineer from IIT-Bombay, dismissed the matter, stating it was just “prasad” — a religious offering.

Police were reportedly alerted to Singh’s hotel following a social media post in which he allegedly threatened to die by suicide. Upon questioning, Singh reportedly took out a packet of ganja from his pocket, stating, “I had consumed ganja. If I have given any information under its influence, then I don’t know anything,” according to a police statement.

Singh, however, refuted the suicide claim, alleging that police approached him under false pretenses. He told reporters, “They came here (to his hotel) under the pretext of some bizarre case. They said someone told them I was going to die by suicide. But they came here and started doing something else only.”

Despite the seizure, Singh was not arrested, as the quantity of the narcotic found was considered small. He downplayed the incident, suggesting that many seers at the Maha Kumbh festival openly consumed ‘prasad’ and questioned why only he was being targeted.

Later, Singh was seen outside the hotel, having tea with a group of people. He also cut a cake, with those present mentioning it was his birthday. He explained to reporters that the police action was due to a “normal” social media post being misinterpreted.
