IIT students visit Waste Management Park,Yawat at Suhana Farms near Pune

Pune 23 August 2017 : Students  from  centre for Rural development and technology, Delhi accompanied by Associate Prof. Ved Kumar from IIT Delhi recently visited the newly opened Ecofactory Foundation’s Waste Management Park at Suhana farms located at Yawat near Pune . Rural Development and Technology, Delhi is a unit of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan recognized by the Government of India under the Ministry of Human Resource Development . These students gathered information about the waste to wealth approach at the park and how it might help in building sustainable agricultural practices.Also present on the occasion were Scientist, Dr.Vijay Bhatkar along with Anand Chordia .Board of Director, Eco Factory Foundation.

Eco-Factory Foundation; a non-profit making organization supported by leading spices and food products manufacturer Pravin Masalewale, has come up with an unique concept of ‘Waste Management Park and Learning Centre’ at Suhana Farms, Yawat; about 45 km from Pune. The Project was inaugurated recently  at the hands of Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar.  The unique theme based project has been taken up to bring awareness about eco-friendly and sustainable life-style solutions to citizens. The project also includes organic and natural sustainable farming practices at the site. The park demonstrates how waste can be re used to prepare useful products and eco friendly processes and methods which can be easily implemented everywhere. The demonstrations here are useful not only for large campuses and schools  but also small apartments, societies and bungalows and therefore would be useful for people at large.

Actively supporting the concept of Waste management park , Dr Vijay Bhatkar said that this project has the capacity to scale up and create a long term impact. Mr.Anand Chordia said that this unique concept would be a guideline for these research students and they can integrate their knowledge to enhance the technologies and add value to this initiative. The initiative was highly appreciated by IIT and in future there is possibility of more synergetic work will happen between both organizations. Eco factory foundation’s waste management park has been built with beautiful and thought provoking concept of ‘Waste is Wealth’. Simple experiments for common people are being demonstrated here which can bring a sea change in the way we handle waste. This will go a long way to supplement our Hon. Prime Ministers vision of Swacch Bharat. This park has been conceptualized and designed by Mr.Anand Chordia for sustainable growth of rural and urban sector and it is a must visit for all..
