Nagpur, 20 December – The incidents of entangling Hindu girls in false love-trap and then converting them to Islam are on the rise. In a latest case, Hindu model Rashmi Shahabajkar was inhumanly beaten by her Muslim husband for refusing to get converted to Islam. He also gave her Talaq and married another woman. To avoid recurrences of such incidents, erstwhile Congress Government had appointed Justice Chandrashekhar Dharmadhikari Committee to look into atrocities being committed on the women. The Committee had recommended legislation of an Act in Maharashtra on the basis of similar laws enacted in Madhya Pradesh and Odisha. The Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis should accept the recommendations of the Committee and legislate Anti-Conversion Law in Maharashtra immediately; failing which a intense agitation will be launched all over the State, warned MLAs of Shiv Sena, BJP and MNS while holding agitation on the steps of Legislative Assembly. The area of Assembly reverberated with the slogans shouted by MLAs such as ‘Act must be legislated against those deceiving the poor’, ‘Immediately legislate Anti-conversion law’, etc.

The agitation was launched in the leadership of Shiv Sena MLA Shri. Bharatseth Goagawale. On this occasion MLAs Ravindra Fatak, Mangesh Kudalkar, Rupesh Mhatre, Rajan Salawi, Rahul Patil, Gautam Chabukswar, Ashok Patil all of Shiv Sena, Mahesh Chougule of BJP and Sharad Sonavane of MNS participated in the agitation.

Rizawan Khan and Arshid Qureshi activists of ‘Islamic Research Foundation’ set up by Dr. Zakir Naik were arrested from Kalyan. They have converted nearly 800 Hindus by deceiving and alluring these Hindus, as exposed in the inquiry made by the Anti Terrorist Squad. Similarly, Christian Missionaries are indulging in a large scale conversion of tribals and people in rural areas of Maharashtra. Therefore, we demand that Anti-Conversion Law should be legislated in Maharashtra immediately.
