Hadapsar, 19th January 2024: A distressing incident took place on Wednesday as an attendant aboard a private school bus sustained injuries to her left hand when a stone, thrown from the Kirloskar Pneumatic rail overbridge in Ramtekdi, struck her. The impact also caused damage to the left portion of the bus’s windscreen. It’s noteworthy that the bus was without any students during the incident.

The bus, en route from Amanora Township to Kondhwa to pick up 34 students, encountered the incident at around 7:10 am. The alleged culprit, Yogesh Kamble, a 32-year-old unemployed resident of the Vaiduwadi slum, not only targeted the bus but also threw a stone at a woman beneath the bridge during the same timeframe. Prompt action from the woman’s husband and son led to Kamble’s apprehension, and he was handed over to the Hadapsar police.

A case has been registered against Kamble, including charges of a rash and negligent act endangering human life, and mischief causing damage. Subsequently, he has been remanded to judicial custody by a city court.

This unfortunate event echoes a similar incident of stone pelting at the same location two weeks prior. Senior Inspector Ravindra Shelke of the Hadapsar police stated, “We are investigating if the same man was involved in another stone pelting incident at the same bridge on January 4 this year.” In that incident, a woman graphic designer suffered an injury above her right eye, resulting in partial vision loss, and had to undergo ophthalmic plastic surgery. The suspect’s involvement in damaging a car in December 2023 is also under verification.
