Pune, 27th June 2025: In observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Department of Psychiatry at Command Hospital, Pune, held a special program aimed at raising awareness about the risks of drug use among adolescents. The event was aligned with this year’s global theme, “Let’s Break the Chain: Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life,” underscoring a worldwide commitment to promoting healthier choices and stronger communities.

As part of the initiative, an interactive awareness session was conducted at the Army Public School in Ghorpadi, Pune. The session engaged adolescents in discussions around the critical importance of prevention, timely intervention, and long-term recovery from substance abuse. Experts from the Department of Psychiatry provided valuable insights on identifying early warning signs of drug dependence, the psychological and social consequences of substance use, and the benefits of a proactive, supportive environment for young people.

The program emphasized equipping students with the knowledge and confidence to reject harmful substances, while also encouraging them to support their peers in making positive life choices. By highlighting both preventive measures and recovery pathways, the awareness drive sought to empower the younger generation with resilience against drug-related challenges.
