IPS Officer Under Scanner? Fadnavis Orders Probe After Complaints in Hagawane Case

Pune, 30th May 2025: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday confirmed the arrest of Nilesh Chavan, an accused in the Vaishnavi Hagawane case. Chavan was nabbed by Pimpri-Chinchwad police while allegedly attempting to flee the country via Nepal.

“He was trying to escape to Nepal when Pimpri-Chinchwad police caught him at the border,” Fadnavis told reporters in Pune, commending the swift action taken by local law enforcement. Chavan had been on the run for several days, drawing intense public and media scrutiny.

The Chief Minister also addressed allegations involving IG lo Jalinder Supekar. “I have received some complaints, and I have asked officials to look into the matter. If anyone is found pressuring authorities in the Vaishnavi Hagawane case, strict action will be taken,” he said.

The developments come amid growing pressure on the police and administration to ensure transparency and justice in the high-profile case, which has sparked widespread outrage across Maharashtra.
