IRICEN Pune Commemorates 66th Founding Anniversary with Enthusiasm

Pune, December 16, 2023: The Indian Railway Institute of Civil Engineering (IRICEN) observed its 66th Foundation Day, “IRICEN Day,” with fervor and celebration on December 15th and 16th. The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including R. N. Sunkar, Member/Infrastructure, Railway Board, who presided over the function. Accompanying him were notable guests, including R. K. Yadav, General Manager of Central Railway, Mumbai, and Mrs. Indu Dubey, DRM of Pune Division, among other high-ranking officials.

Sunil Kumar Jha, Director General of IRICEN, warmly welcomed the attendees and elucidated on IRICEN’s initiatives in disseminating knowledge pertaining to modern railway technology. The institute, situated in Koregaon Park, Pune, occupies a platinum-rated green building designed for eco-friendliness, equipped with contemporary infrastructure to provide advanced training to railway officers.

As a Centralized Training Institute (CTI) of Indian Railways, IRICEN focuses on training IRSE officers recruited through the Union Public Service Commission, serving Railway Engineers, and professionals from Railway PSUs, ensuring their expertise in evolving fields of Railway Engineering.

Highlighting their achievements, IRICEN successfully conducted 133 courses in 2023, training a total of 4589 railway officers, supervisors, and officials from various organizations until November 2023.

A seminar held on December 15th spotlighted pertinent topics crucial to the railway sector’s progress:

Challenges in executing Railway Infrastructure Projects
EPC Contracts in Railway Infrastructure Projects
High-Speed/High Axle Load Railway Track Construction
These discussions addressed the pressing need to reduce travel time and augment freight train capacities within Indian Railways. Notably, the seminar offered in-depth deliberations, leading to invaluable recommendations for the industry.
