Irsalwadi Village Of Raigad Was Not In The List Of Landslide-Prone Villages, CM Announces Compensation For Victims

Raigad 20th July 2023: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde who visited the landslide site at Irsalwadi village in Raigad district on Thursday said that the village was not in the list of landslide-prone villages. He further said that the rescue agencies are conducting the rescue operation to save the people trapped under the debris.

 

CM also announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the kin of those who died in the incident. He also said that the government will take care of the medical expenses of the injured people. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also spoke to CM and assured all help from the entral government.

 

According to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the village has a total of around 48 houses and 75 people have been rescued so far while many others are still feared trapped. Five people have lost their lives. Two NDRF teams have already reached the site while two more teams are reaching in sometime.

 

The rescue teams are facing difficulties as the village is located around 6 km away from main road and they are unable to take JCB machines or other equipment to the spot. CM also said that the help will be provided by helicopter. However, he also added that helicopter is also unable to land here due to bad weather.

 

The Raigad Police have set up a dedicated control room to coordinate with the relatives. A helpline number 8108195554 has been issued which will be monitored by Police Sub Inspector rank officer.
