Jaya Jaitly of Dastkari Haat Samiti brings back the 5th edition to Pune
Pune, 18th Nov 2019: The 5th Edition of Dastkari Haat crafts festival is coming very soon to Pune. The nine days long festival will be inaugurated by Vandana Chavan, MP along with Madhav Gadgil, noted Environmentalist on 23rd November 2019.
This will be followed by a conversation between Gadgil and Jaya Jaitly, President Dastkari Haat Samiti on “The link between sustainability, the environment and the role of the crafts sector”.
Craft lovers of Pune eagerly await the exciting and vibrant atmosphere created by the Dastkari Haat craft bazaar every year and this time the Dastkari Haat crafts bazaar of 2019 promises to be a very festive, colourful event. Crafts persons from all over India will demonstrate their craft skills. There will be specially designed decor and daily performances of folk culture in song and dance to create a happy ambience.
This Year’s Highlights
Visitors will see many new products developed out of Madhubani art, wood and textiles, Gond art, bead jewellery, block prints, embroidery & weaving from Rajasthan, Chanderi & Maheshwari from Madhya Pradesh, Banarasi weaves & chiken embroidery from Uttar Pradesh, ceramics & pottery from Rajasthan & Uttar Pradesh, linen and batik sarees from West Bengal, silver jewellery from Odisha, embroidery from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, Weaving for Chhattisgarh, Tie & Dye and Shibori from Rajasthan.

Folk Performances
Moorala Marwada is a Sufi folk singer from the Janana village of the Kutch District, Gujarat, India. He sings the poetry of Kabir, Mirabai, Ravidas and others. Moorala sings in the Kaafi form of music that has evolved and been adopted by the Hindu singers of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.
