Keep in view tourism, industry, city development while developing airports : CM Uddhav Thackeray
Mumbai, Feb 25, 2020: Airport development should be viewed with a long term view of developing tourism, industry and cities instead of just limited to basic infrastructure facilities, said Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. He directed the officers to develop Shirdi airport terminus building expansion on a theme-based system keeping in view the spiritual background of the place.
He was speaking while chairing the Board of Directors meeting of Maharashtra Airports Development Company (MADC) at Legislative Assembly Building today. To complete the expansion of Shirdi Airport Terminus Building similar pattern can be employed and work should be done in coordination with MADC. While developing airports efforts should be made to provide better connectivity with adjoining cities, and urban development, CIDCO, MADC, MTDC, MIDC should work with better coordination for developing industries, urban planning for city development, and tourism development in the nearby areas. Work should be accelerated to complete the Chipi airport in Sindhudurg district and surrounding area should be developed in a planned way including urban development.
