Khadakwasla, 6th May 2024: A case of fraud has surfaced in Pune, wherein an individual fell victim to deceit and manipulation, losing a substantial sum of Rs. 1.43 lakhs. The incident, which has prompted swift police action, sheds light on the nefarious activities of one Ajit Ramakrishna Ghatpande, who stands accused of duping the complainant under the guise of facilitating admission to Kendriya Vidyalaya.

The matter came to light following a complaint lodged at Warje police station by a resident residing in a society on NDA Road. According to the complaint, the victim had first met Ghatpande two years ago, whereupon the latter purportedly offered assistance in securing admission for a first-class seat at Kendriya Vidyalaya in the Girinagar area of Khadakwasla.

Under the guise of facilitating the admission process, Ghatpande allegedly solicited a sum of Rs. 1.43 lakhs from the complainant, who, trusting the accused, complied with the request. However, despite the monetary transaction, Ghatpande failed to fulfill his end of the bargain, leaving the complainant bereft of both the promised admission and the substantial sum of money.

Subsequent attempts by the complainant to reclaim the misappropriated funds were met with resistance, as Ghatpande reportedly refused to comply with refund requests. Matters took a sinister turn when the accused resorted to threats, allegedly menacing the complainant with dire consequences, including death or suicide, should the matter be pursued further.

In light of these alarming developments, the complainant sought recourse through legal channels, prompting the initiation of an investigation by Crime Branch Police Inspector Neelkanth Jagtap. Suspicions have arisen regarding Ghatpande’s involvement in similar fraudulent activities, with indications suggesting that multiple individuals may have fallen prey to his deceptive schemes, centered around securing admissions to Kendriya Vidyalaya.
