Khadakwasla-Hadapsar-Kharadi Pune Metro Project Gains Momentum; Locals Seek Main Station, Car Shed Near Khadakwasla

Pune, 26th August 2026: The proposed Khadakwasla-Hadapsar-Kharadi Metro project is showing signs of gaining momentum, with survey and alignment planning work currently underway. Pune Metro officials said efforts are being made to start the actual construction work at the earliest.

Pune Metro officials Sonu Chaudhary, Shashi Bhushan and other officials held a meeting with local residents at Kolhewadi to provide details about the proposed Metro route and explain the benefits expected from the project. The officials also responded to questions raised by residents.

During the meeting, officials said Kolhewadi is currently proposed as the starting station of the Metro project.

However, local residents demanded that the main station and car shed should instead be developed beyond the gas shed at Khadakwasla. They said locating the station and car shed in Khadakwasla would benefit residents as well as tourists and could give a boost to tourism in the area.

Metro officials responded positively to the demands and said the suggestions would be conveyed to senior officials of Pune Metro for consideration.

The meeting was attended by corporator Dhanshree Kolhe, corporator Subhash Nanekar, BJP OBC Morcha state vice-president Datta Kolhe, Vijay Mate, Ashok Mate, Ramesh Gaikwad, former sarpanch Vijay Kolhe, Ajay Kolhe, Anand Mate and other residents.

Locals seek flyover between Kolhewadi and Nanded Phata
Residents and local representatives also demanded construction of a flyover for vehicular traffic between Kolhewadi and Nanded Phata, alongside the proposed Metro pillars.

Corporator Dhanshree Kolhe and corporator Subhash Nanekar suggested that a flyover similar to the one at Nal Stop Chowk should be considered along the stretch.

They said such a flyover could help ease traffic congestion in Nanded, Kirkatwadi, Nandoshi and Kolhewadi, where increasing traffic has become a concern for residents.

The demands were raised during the interaction with Pune Metro officials as discussions continue over the alignment, stations and supporting infrastructure for the proposed Khadakwasla-Hadapsar-Kharadi Metro corridor.
