Pune, April 9, 2020: After three days lockdown, Khadki Bazaar opened today. However, the heavily crowded vegetable market has been temporarily shifted to the ground near the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) on old Pune-Mumbai Highway.

Khadki Cantonment Board (KCB) CEO Pramod Kumar Singh said that police requested to shift the vegetable market due to extreme congestion. Accordingly, the location has been selected at survey no 230, which is adjacent to ACP office near Andi Ubawni Kendra.

“It is little away from civil area and lights, marking and barricades has been provided. A total of 150 stalls of vegetable and fruit, purely temporarily, have been allowed due to Coronavirus outbreak. The Mandi Samiti agreed for the same and they are ready to maintain social distancing. The decision was taken yesterday through a circular agenda. KCB is ready to take safety measures in the larger public interest”, he said.

The internal barriers in cantonment areas will be continued. Only grocery shops and medical stores have been allowed to open from today in the market area. There was a complete shutdown in Khadki Bazaar for three days after an autorickshaw driver tested positive for Coronavirus.
