Kharadi Drainage Blockage: Sewage Water Floods Rakshak Nagar Gold Road for 15 Days, Residents Furious
Kharadi, 1st November 2025: For the past fifteen days, sewage water has been overflowing onto the road leading to Rakshak Nagar Gold in Kharadi. The drainage system in the area is reportedly completely blocked, resulting in contaminated water stagnating in low-lying patches along the road. The foul odor and unhygienic conditions have left residents worried about potential health hazards.
Despite several complaints, municipal authorities have allegedly failed to take any concrete action, claimed local residents Sushila Sonawane and Govindram Chaudhary.
Residents said the drains in the area have not been cleaned regularly, causing garbage and plastic waste to choke the lines. This has led to continuous sewage overflow, making it difficult for pedestrians and motorists to pass through.
The stagnant water has also become a breeding ground for mosquitoes, raising fears of vector-borne diseases. The unpleasant smell has made daily life difficult for nearby residents.
Responding to the issue, Hemant Desai, an engineer from the drainage department of the Nagar Road Regional Office, said, “Instructions have been given to deploy sanitation workers at the site and carry out repair work immediately.”
