Kharadi Murder Update: Accused Shared Video Before Surrender, Son Witnessed Crime

Pune, 23rd January 2025: In a shocking update to the Kharadi murder case, the accused Shivdas Tukaram Gite (37) recorded a video confession after killing his wife and shared it with his office colleagues before surrendering to the police.
The incident occurred yesterday morning when Gite, a court stenographer, allegedly stabbed his 28-year-old wife Jyoti to death using a pair of tailoring scissors in their rented accommodation in Tuljabhavani Nagar, Kharadi. The couple’s six-year-old son was reportedly present during the murder.
According to police, Gite suspected his wife of trying to usurp his property, which led to the murder. After the act, he created a three-and-a-half-minute video in which he accused his wife of betrayal, saying, “You were the Laxmi of the house, but you deceived me.”
The video was shared in a WhatsApp group of his office colleagues before Gite turned himself in at the Chandan Nagar Police Station around 7:15 AM, bringing his son along.
Neighbours reported being awakened by Jyoti’s screams and found her in a pool of blood. She was rushed to Sassoon General Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) spokesperson Sushma Andhare and Congress ex-MLA Ravindra Dhangekar have demanded action from the Home Ministry, with Andhare stating that the incident shows a lack of fear of the police in Pune.
Assistant Police Inspector Rahul Kolpe is leading the ongoing investigation into this case.
