Pune, September 6, 2020: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) issues 12-digit identification number Aadhaar. To use Aadhaar Card as valid proof, the information entered in your Aadhaar must be updated. However, many times it happens that we change our accommodation due to transfer in the job or having a rental house.

In such a situation, it is very important to update the new address in the Aadhaar card. You can update the address through offline as well as online process. However, it is important to note that to update the address in the Aadhaar card, you need to provide a valid address proof.

UIDAI says that if you want to update the address online then the document provided by you should be in your name. Also, it should be included in the list of 44 documents accepted by UIDAI. Documents such as passport, rent agreement, bank statement or passbook, telephone bill, electricity bill, voter ID card and driving license are included in this list.

If your mobile number is registered with UIDAI then you can easily update the address online. Here is the whole process:

  • After this, click on the ‘Proceed to update Address’ tab
  • Now enter the 12 digit Aadhaar number and captcha code and click ‘Send OTP’
  • Now select the option to update the address with a valid ID
  • After this, fill the address at the specified place and also upload and submit the document

After this, your address will be updated in the Aadhaar card within a certain time. The thing to note here is that even if you do not have document proof, you can still update the address through address validation letter. You can get this validation letter with four steps.

The second most important thing is that if you have more than one page in the address proof, then you have to scan all of them and make a PDF file and only then upload it on the UIDAI website.
