‘Lakhoba Lokhande’: Pune Police Arrest Abhijeet Limaye For Objectionable Posts Against CM Uddhav Thackeray, Balasaheb Thackeray and NCP chief Sharad Pawar

Shivajinagar, 19th September 2021: A 35-year-old man was arrested for posting defamatory content on social media against Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, late Balasaheb Thackeray and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar.

Pune cyber police arrested the accused identified as Abhijit Limaye from his Mumbai residence on Saturday. He was produced before a court in Pune which released him on bail today.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena supporters who had gathered outside the district court premises in Shivajinagar abused and blackened his face.

According to police, an FIR was registered by the cyber police station on 13th May this year against a social media handle with the name ‘Lakhoba Lokhande’ for posting objectionable posts against CM Uddhav Thackeray, Balasaheb Thackeray and NCP chief Sharad Pawar. After technical analysis, his identity was established and he was arrested.

The accused has been charged for offences under sections 153(a), 295(a), 469,499,500,504,505(2) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Information Technology Act.
