Legislative Council: A school of failures – Rahul Dambale

Pune, September 1, 2020: Demanding appointment of Baba Kamble as the member of Legislative Council (LC), Republican Yuva Morcha, Maharashtra state head Rahul Dambale in a press conference said that the LC has become a school of failures. The candidates who have lost the elections or were denied tickets were appointed at LC. But we need leader like Kamble who can give voice to the people from marginalized and unorganized sector.

 

The unorganized workers, rickshaw drivers, housemaids have demanded Kamble’s appointment at LC, he said adding that various associations and organizations will be sending 50,000 letters to governor Bhagatsingh Koshiyari.

Baba Kamble, Transporter body head Aziz Shaikh, Samajwadi Party Pimpri-Chinchwad head Rafique Qureshi, Bhima Koregaon Action Committee head Anita Salve and many others were present.

 

He further said, “there are over 20 lakh workers from the unorganized and related sectors in the state. Baba Kamble is the only capable leader for them and his appointment would mean felicitating of these workers. For last 30 years not a single representative from unorganized sector has been appointed to LC till date. We will be carrying out seven meetings in this regard.”

Kamble on the occasion said that he has worked from local level to national level for these workers and also have been to jail too. He said that due to his persistence efforts during the pandemic he was successful in getting Rs 2,000 and Rs 3,000 from the construction welfare board for the workers from unorganized sector. Similarly, pursuing to get financial help from Social Welfare Board for the household maids. The first law was made under National Hawkers policy 2004 in Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation limit”, Kamble informed adding that now we want to press the demand for getting benefits under Hawkers policy framed by Centre.
