Less Than 50 Percent Booking On New 80 Special Trains

New Delhi, September 11, 2020: There has been an indifferent response from passengers for booking of 80 special trains of Indian Railways and less than 50 percent seats have been booked on average, while only two trains are having more than 100 percent passengers who have booked rail tickets. The bookings began on September 10.

According to the data provided by the railways, 108 per cent booking has been done for the special train from Howrah in West Bengal from Indore Junction railway station, while 179 percent tickets have been booked for the Shramik special train from Valsad station to Muzaffarpur in Bihar.

 

More passengers have booked seats for Indore to Howrah train, while only 15 percent booking was done for a special train coming from Howrah to Indore. 52 percent of berths have been booked for a Western Railway train running between Manmad to Mumbai. On an average, about 30 per cent seats have been booked in trains running from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal to Karnataka and Telangana. Railways said that they have started special trains for high demand areas and are also going to the ticket waitlist, but according to the data, more than 50 per cent seats have been booked in only three trains out of 80 on the first day of booking.

A railway official said, “Today is the first day. Most trains are weekly while some are twice a week. As the day of travel for these trains approaches, there is a possibility of the pace of reservation increasing.”
