Pune, February 2015: Acid Attacks, Rape, Physical Abuse, Assaults and Mental abuse, we have seen all of this happen in movies, seen it on the news channels and read about them in the Newspaper. As time goes by we think about the anguish the victim must have felt, we feel pity for her and then we tend to forget it, thinking that we are safe and nothing bad can ever happen to us.

Unfortunately in today’s day and age no one is immune to the violence, today it may have happened to a complete stranger, tomorrow it could be you. How long can we continue to live in denial? It is our responsibility to protect ourselves and our dignity.

Realizing the need to educate their daughters about staying safe and protecting themselves, LPF

in association with Mr. Hemen Lohana & Mr. Salil Nadkarni (Reflex Quotient) had organized a Self Defence workshop for its girls. The trainers began the session by showcasing presentation explaining the vulnerable areas of the human body, which can be targeted in an act of self defence. The trainers also taught the girls about the various tactics of blocking and hitting they can use in case an attack takes place. The main highlight of the program was the facilitators teaching the girls the art of protecting themselves by using everyday things such as scarves, pens, hair clips and safety pins.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks.
