Lockdown 4: Pune City Police issue curfew order to prohibit people’s movement in select hours

Pune, May 21, 2020: As per the guidelines of Maharashtra government, Pune City Police today issued curfew order to restrict the movement of people every day between 7 pm to 7 am, during the fourth phase of the lockdown till May 31. People should not leave their homes during these hours. The number of Coronavirus positive patients has crossed 4,000 in Pune city.

 

Joint Commissioner of Police (law and order) Ravindra Shisve issued the order under CrPC section 144 for areas under the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) as well as Pune and Khadki cantonments. The state government and central government has extended lockdown till 31st May. The curfew order will come into effect from Friday (May 22) and will remain in force till May 31st midnight. If anybody is found violating the curfew order, then legal action will be taken for an offence under section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

 

Earlier, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) had issued revised guidelines to be followed by people during daytime. The shops have allowed opening during the day between 7 am to 7 pm. Also, wearing of face cover is compulsory in all public and workplaces. Spitting in public and workplaces shall be punishable with fine as may be prescribed in accordance with laws, rules or regulations. Social distancing shall be followed by all persons in public places and in transport. Marriage related gathering shall ensure social distancing and the maximum number of guests allowed shall not be more than 50.

 

Funeral/last rites related gathering shall ensure social distancing and the maximum number of guests allowed shall not be more than 20. Consumption of liquor, paan, tobacco, etc in public places is not allowed. Shops (including liquor shops) will ensure a minimum of 6 feet distance among customers and shall not allow more than 5 persons at the shop.
