Pune, 26 March 2021: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar today said that there will be no lockdown in Pune as of now but a decision has to be taken on April 2 if the situation does not improve.

He appealed to people to follow Coronavirus disease (COVID19) preventive guidelines like wearing a mask and following social distance norms.

“There is a need to increase the vaccination. Therefore, we want to increase vaccination centers to 600. The positivity rate has increased to 25% and total cases in the Pune district is rising exponentially. Only 50 will be allowed at ceremonies and only 20 persons at funerals”, Pawar said.

The health department officials had proposed 14 days lockdown in Pune but Pawar rejected the proposal. “Strict lockdown measures will be taken if the situation does not improve by April 1”, Pawar told media persons in a virtual press conference.
