Lockdown: Pune Police Bharosa Cell Comes to Rescue of Senior Citizens for their Needs

Pune, April 11, 2020: The Bharosa Cell working under the Crime Branch of Pune City Police has been doing yeoman work by providing various services to the senior citizens. From providing medicines to the grocery to food, elderly people are being provided with all the essential services required during the lockdown period.

According to police officials, they have contacted 190 senior citizens forums functional in different parts of the city. Between March 16 and April 10, a total 136 calls were related to various services like requirements of medicine, grocery, vegetables, food, going to the hospital, bank, caretakers not able to come, and domestic issues.

Police officials said that with the help of various social organisations they are providing foodgrains, water and medicines to about 3500 senior citizens every day. Senior citizens can contact for assistance on helpline number 1090 or 02026111103

The senior citizen cell is functioning under the supervision of Additional Commissioner of Police (crime) Ashok Morale, DCP (crime) Bachchan Singh, ACP Vijay Chaudhary and Police Inspector Vaishali Chandgude.

There is a complete lockdown in Pune due to Coronavirus outbreak which has killed 28 persons in the district. Till now about 248 persons have been found positive with Coronavirus in Pune district. A total of 36 persons have been cured and discharged from hospital.
