Lockdown: Pune Police Facilitate Travel of 20,000 People, Apply Online

Pune, May 4, 2020: After the central and state government allowed movement of people within Maharashtra and to other states, people have started applying for travel in large numbers. Most people are from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

According to DCP Bachchan Singh of Pune city police, till now information on 15502 migrant labourers willing to go out of State is collected by Pune Police. Further coordination to facilitate their movements is going on liaison with nodal officers of different states. The officer further informed that for inter-district (within Maharashtra) travel, 583 applications were allowed today. Out of these, 138 were the first relative of the dead person and 256 had an extreme medical emergency.

According to police, people can apply for travel online on covid19.mhpolice.in the website, if they want to travel. If more than 5 persons are travelling and then one of them has to apply online and upload a list of people travelling with him/her. They should make district wise list for travel. Also, the applicant’s photo and aadhar card have to be uploaded on the website. Individual persons applying for travel must get a certificate from a registered medical practitioner (doctor) stating that they do not influenza-like symptoms of cough, cold or fever.

Pune District Collector Naval Kishore Ram has appealed people not to gather in large number outside hospitals for a medical certificate. The government will do the medical screening of people travelling in a large group. Police will take action against those who come out of home unnecessarily.
