Lockdown to be relaxed in Pune after May 3, IT companies may be reopened

Pune, May 1, 2020: Shekhar Gaikwad, Pune municipal commissioner, said that the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to give relaxations in areas of Pune city which non-hotspots for Coronavirus COVID19. The civic body will reduce the number of containment zones.

The central government has called for nationwide lockdown till May 3. “After May 3, we are planning to remove some restrictions and allow the opening of salons, bakeries, electronic shops etc in areas which non-hotspot within Pune city. Only 5 out of 15 wards are badly affected. At present, all areas under PMC have been declared as containment zone. After May 3, we reduce the number of containment areas”, Gaikwad said.

The municipal commissioner said that IT companies located in PMC jurisdiction can be given some relaxations and they will be allowed to reopen. However, he made it clear that strict curfew measures will remain red zone or hotspot areas of the city where most Coronavirus positive patients have been detected.

Yesterday, 86 new patients of COVID19 were reported in PMC limits taking the total of patients to 1518. Till now 274 Coronavirus patients have cured and discharged from hospitals, while 88 including 3 from outside Pune have died during treatment here.

Meanwhile from today, all shops excluding medical stores in 23 hotspots will remain closed till May 3. Only milk shops will open for two hours from 10 am to noon. Home delivery of milk will be allowed between 6 am to 10 am. The home delivery of essential commodities is also not allowed except for milk in the given time. The restrictions will not apply to shops for foodgrains distribution run by the government.

These restrictions have been applied in the entire area under the jurisdiction of Samarth, Khadak and Faraskhana police stations. In areas under Swargate Police station restrictions will be in Gultekdi, Maharshinagar, Dias plot, Indiranagar, Khadda Slum; Lashkar Police station – New Modikhana, Poona College Road, Near Modikhana Qureshi Masjid, Bhimpura road, Babajan Dargah, Quartergate Road, Shivaji Market, Sarbatwala Chowk Road, Shitladevi Mandir Road; Bundgarden Police station- Tadiwala Road; Sahakarnagar Police station- Taljai Colony, Balaji Nagar; Dattawadi Police station – Parvati Darshan; Yerawada Police station – Laxminagar, Gadital, Chitra Chowk locality; Khadki Police station – Patil Estate Slum, Irani Vasti Patkar Plot.
