Pune – A delegation of Muslim community on Saturday met Pune city police commissioner and demanded a thorough probe against all accused involved in sexual abuse of children at an madrasa on Katraj-Kondhwa road.

On Friday, police had rescued 36 kids from the orphanage-cum-Madrasa and arrested a teacher (Maulana).

In their letter to police, the delegation submitted, “There should be complete and impartial probe against all accused. As per media reports, it appears that the said accused is a native of Bihar and was appointed just 3 days ago. We feel that he may be involved in committing such heinous crimes in his previous work places too. We hereby request you to kindly issue orders to investigate his antecedents; his previous work places and his involvement in similar such cases, if any. We feel this may help other such victims to come forward and build a strong case in the investigation. And also send a strong message against all such paedophiles.

According to FIR registered with Kondhwa police station, which was transferred to Bharati Vidyapeeth police station as the madrasa is located in their jurisdiction, the Maulana used to sexually exploit the children at night and when they protested he would beat them up. Unable to bear any more, two children, aged 10 years, fled from there and reached the Pune railway station where they were rescued by Saathi NGO and they revealed their plight.

Police officials said that the children from Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra have been staying in the madrasa for the last few months.
