Mahaparinirvan Diwas : Complete facilities to be provided to the followers at Chaityabhoomi

Mumbai, 3 December 2019: Minister Subhash Desai has today taken stock of the facilities to the followers, who would pay their respects to Great man (Mahamanav) Bharatratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar at Chaityabhumi in Dadar. The state government and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) have made these facilities. More followers are coming this year than every year, and plan accordingly, he instructed. Similarly, Mr. Desai has directed to take appropriate action to maintain the quality of food, which would be provided to the followers.

In this meeting, which was held at Sahyadri Guest House, Mr. Desai apprised about the preparations made by the State Government, Police, BMC and BEST.

The BMC provides various facilities to followers on Chaityabhoomi and Shivaji Park. The entire areas including Chaityabhoomi, Ashoka Pillar, Bhimjyot have been repaired and colored. A control room has been set up. As well as the display of rare photographs will also be put up. On 6 December, the government will pay it’s respect and shower flowers through helicopter.

A mandap (pavilion) is being set up at Shivaji Park for followers, who are coming from across the state. LED screens, food pavilions, 16 tankers and 380 taps for drinking water, 18 mobile toilets and 120 fiber toilets, 260 bathrooms, arrangement of electric lamps in the premises, 48 life guards deployed on the sea shore, 300 mobile charging points have been provided in the Mandap (Pavilion). Three medical rooms will be set up in Shivaji Park and Chaityabhoomi area and 11 ambulances will be deployed. He said that health checkups and medicines would be made available at these places, this information was also given.

Proper arrangements have been made in these premises by the police force. Similarly, control room has been set up at Shivaji Park and Chaityabhoomi along with 100 CCTV surveillance. The concerned officials have given this information.

Mr. Desai said, the administration has prepared well for the followers, who would be coming to pay their respects to the Bharatratna Dr. Babasahab Ambedakar. The Chief Minister has given special instructions in order to ensure that the followers do not miss any kind of facilities. The BMC has also made good plans. A film on the life of Dr. Babasahab Ambedkar will be shown at Shivaji Park by the state government. The number of information books, which are issued by the BMC, should be increased from fifty thousand to one and a half lakh. So that all followers can get it easily. Similarly, a picture of Babasaheb Ambedkar’s memorial, which is to be built in Indu Mill, should be put in the premises. He has made this suggestion.

The quality of food, which would be served in Shivaji Park by various organizations, should be good. The Food and Drug Administration should also take note of this, Mr. Desai added.

An MLA Mr. Aditya Thackeray suggested to the BMC that photos of the memorial of the Indu Mill would be displayed in the chaityabhoomi. Besides this, the emergency system should be properly fixed keeping in mind the possibility of rain.

On this occasion, MLA Aditya Thackeray, MLA Bhai Girkar, former MLA Sachin Ahir, Arjun Dangle, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Mahaparinirvan Divas Coordinating Committee’s General Secretary Nagasen Kamble, Vice President Mahendra Salve, Siddharth Kasare, Ravi Garud and Manoj Sansare, Secretaries of various departments, Senior Police officers and officers of the BMC were present.
