Maharashtra – 14919 polling centers for first phase polling in State

Mumbai, Apr 5: For the first phase of Lok Sabha elections to be held in the state on April 11 the preparations are going on in full swing. There are 116candidates in the field for the first phase for whom 1 crore 30 lakh 35 thousand voters will be casting their votes at 14919polling centers. Among the total voters there are 66.71 lakh male and 63.64 lakh female voters in addition to 181 voters belong to kinnar category. Nearly 44000EVMs and 20000 VVPAT machines will be put to use. 73,837 employees are deputed to conduct the polling process.

Voting for Lok Sabha polls will be held in four phases in the state. In the first phase Wardha, Ramtek, Nagpur, Bhandara-Gondia, Gadchiroli-Chimur, Chandrapur and Yavatmal-Washim constituencies will go to polls. In view of the summer temperatures, the Election Commmission has given directions to provide drinking water and shade to the voters.

The material required for polling has been given to the district collectors. The time of polling in Naxalite affected areas of Gadhciroli-Chimur Lok Sabha constituency has been fixed between 7 am to 3 pm.

In Wardha constituency there are2026 polling centers for 8.93 lskh male and 8.48 lakh female voters. Together there are 17.41 lakh voters. In Ramtek constituency 2364 polling centers are provided for 9.96 lakh male and 9.24 lakh female voters totaling to 19.21 lakh voters.

In Nagpur there are 2065 polling centers for 10.96 lakh male and 10.63 lakh female voters. The total voters in Nagpur are 21.60 lakh. The Bhandara-Gondia constituency has 2184 polling centers for9.05 lakh male and 9.03 lakh female voters. The total voters in Bhandara-Gondia constituency is 18.08 lakh.

For Gadchiroli-Chimur LS Constituency there are 1881 polling centers where 15.80 lakh voters including7.99 male and 9.86 lakh female will cast their votes. For Chandrapur constituency there are 2193 polling centers for 19.08lakh voters amongst whom male voters count to 9.86 lakh while female voters are9.22 lakh.

There are 19.14 lakh voters in Yavatmal-Washim constituency amongst whom 9.93 lakh are male and 9.21 lakh are female voters. They will be casting their votes at 2206 polling centers.

Two ballot units are placed at polling centers having over 15 contestants along with one control unit. For the first phase 26000 ballot units and 18000control units have been provided in addition to 20000 VVPAT machines. Extra machines are given at all the centers.
