Maharashtra: 2234 patients discharged, 2739 new Corona patients detected today

Mumbai, June 6, 2020: The current count of COVID19 patients in the state of Maharashtra is 82,968. Today, newly 2739 patients have been identified as positive. Also newly 2234 patients were discharged from hospitals after being cured today, while 120 patients died. There are still 42,600 active patients in the state, said Health Minister Rajesh Tope.

He also informed that the Government of Maharashtra is going to procure 10,000 vials of Remdesivir. Based on evidence from laboratory, animal and clinical studies, it has generated promising results in MERS- CoV and SARS which are also caused by Corona Virus. World Health Organisation (WHO) has suggested that it may have some positive effects on Covid19 treatment. This expensive medicine is being made available for poor and needy patients.

According to the health department, the recovery rate in the state is 45.06% while the fatality rate is 3.57%. Currently, 5,46,566 people are in-home quarantine. There are 75,741 beds available in quarantine institutions and 29,098 people are in institutional quarantine currently.

 

Out of the 120 deaths today, 78 were men and 42 women. 53 of them aged over 60 years, 47 were from the age group 40 to 59 years and 20 were aged less than 40 years. 69 out of 120 patients (57.5%) had high-risk co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, etc. Death toll in Covid-19 patients has now gone up to 2969 in the state. Out of the total deaths reported today, 30 deaths occurred in the last two days and the rest are from the period 3rd May to 3rd June 2020. Out of the 90 deaths in this period, 53 were recorded in Mumbai, 5 in Mira-Bhayandar, 3 in Bhivandi, 9 in Thane, 6 in Ulhasnagar, 6 in Navi Mumbai, 2 in Satara, 1 in Vasai-Virar, 1 in Amaravati, 1 in Aurangabad, 1 in Malegaon, 1 in Nashik and 1 in Solapur.

There are a total of 85 laboratories functional in the state for COVID-19 diagnosis – 47 government ones and 38 private ones. Out of 5,37,124 laboratory samples, 82,968 have been tested positive for COVID-19 until today. As per the guidance from the Government of India, cluster containment action plan is being implemented in places where clusters of patients have been found in the state. There are 3603 active containment zones in the state currently. Total 18,422 surveillance squads worked today across the state and surveillance of 69.82 lakh population was done.
