Maharashtra Allows Nightclubs, Bars to Stay Open Till 5 am After Christmas and New Year’s Eve
Pune, 25th December 2025: The Maharashtra home department has allowed an extension of operating hours for nightlife establishments across Maharashtra on the nights following Christmas and New Year’s Eve, giving a boost to year-end celebrations. Hotels, clubs, permit rooms and beer bars will be permitted to remain open until 5 am on these two nights.
Normally, such establishments are required to close by 1.30 am. Officials said the temporary extension has been granted to manage the heavy rush expected during the festive period and to prevent overcrowding at popular venues during peak hours.
In a limited relaxation for retail liquor outlets, wine shops and country liquor bars have also been granted permission to operate beyond their usual closing time of 10.30 pm. These outlets will be allowed to stay open until 1 am on the specified nights.
The home department has made it clear that the extended timings will be strictly regulated. Establishments must adhere to all law-and-order norms, noise restrictions and safety guidelines. Police have been instructed to step up patrolling in nightlife zones, with a focus on preventing drunk driving and ensuring public safety throughout the celebrations.
