Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2019 : Congress declares list of 51 candidates including 3 from Pune

Pune, September 29, 2019 : The Congress Party today declared list of 51 candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra State Assembly Elections. The list has three names from Pune district.

Congress loyalist Ramesh Bagve will contest from Pune Cantonment, Sangram Thopte from Bhor and Sanjay Jagtap from Purandar constituencies.

Bagve is Pune City Congress president for the last two years. He was earlier MLA from Pune Cantonment seat, and he was also minister of state for home between 2009-14 during the Congress-NCP rule.

Jagtap who hails from Saswad, is Pune district Congress president for last one and half years.

Jagtap and Thopte families are also considered Congress loyalists.

The Congress list also includes name of former chief minister Ashok Chavan from the Bhikar constituency, while Maharashtra Congrees party chief Vijay Balasaheb Thorat from Sangamner.

Former chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh’s son Amit will contest from the Latur City seat, while ex-home minister Sushilkumar Shinde’s daughter Praniti will contest from the Solapur City Central seat.
