Maharashtra Board Waives Exam Fees for Class 10, 12 Students in 265 Drought-Hit Talukas
Pune, 30th September 2026: Students appearing for the Maharashtra State Board Class 10 and Class 12 examinations from 265 drought-affected talukas across the state will not have to pay examination fees for the February-March 2027 examinations, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has said.
The State Board has instructed all its divisional boards to accept online examination application forms from eligible students without collecting examination fees until further orders.
The decision follows a September 25, 2026 government resolution issued by the Relief and Rehabilitation Department, under which various concessions have been approved as a special measure for 265 talukas facing drought-like conditions. The concessions include exemption from examination fees for school and college students.
Accordingly, students from drought-affected talukas appearing for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC/Class 10) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC/Class 12) examinations scheduled for February-March 2027 will be allowed to submit their examination applications without paying the prescribed fee.
The State Board said detailed instructions regarding the implementation of the fee exemption would be issued separately.
All divisional boards have been directed to immediately inform schools and junior colleges in the drought-affected talukas within their respective jurisdictions. They have also been asked to submit a report on the action taken to the State Board on an urgent basis.
